Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026 · Applies to the Lumo Android app (com.lumo.lumo)
Lumo (“the app”) is a personal money and budget tracker. It has no account system: you never sign up, and the app never asks for your name, email, phone number or bank details. This policy explains what stays on your device, what leaves it, and what you can control.
What stays on your device
Everything you record is stored only in the app’s private storage on your device and is never uploaded to us:
- Transactions: amount, currency, category, date and time, and your notes
- Money you lent or borrowed, and whether it has been settled
- Monthly budget limits per category
- Your starting balance, display currency, language, and the “hide balance” setting
- The exchange-rate cache used to convert amounts while offline
We operate no server for your financial data and have no copy of it.
What the app sends over the internet
| What | Why | Who receives it |
|---|---|---|
| Ad requests — including your Advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address, device information and ad interactions | To show banner and in-feed ads, which keep the app free | Google AdMob (Google LLC) |
| Usage events — for example: a screen was opened, a transaction was saved, the currency was changed. Plus an app instance identifier, your app language and display currency. | To understand which features are used and to fix problems | Google Firebase Analytics |
| A plain request for the day’s exchange rates, at most once every 24 hours | To convert between the 154 supported currencies | open.er-api.com, with cdn.jsdelivr.net as fallback. Nothing about you is sent — the app only downloads a public rate table. |
Advertising and your choices
- Ads are served by Google AdMob. Google may use your Advertising ID to personalise ads and measure them. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- You can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting it turns off ad personalisation; you will still see ads, just less relevant ones.
- Lumo does not show ads on the splash screen, and never shows full-screen interstitial ads.
Android backup
Android’s Auto Backup is enabled for the app, so if backup is turned on for your device, Android may copy the app’s data to your own Google Drive so it can be restored when you reinstall. That copy belongs to your Google account and is not accessible to us. You can turn it off in Android Settings → Google → Backup.
Children
Lumo is a general-purpose finance app intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your records stay on your device until you delete them. To remove everything at once, uninstall the app, or go to Android Settings → Apps → Lumo → Storage → Clear data. Deleting a transaction inside the app can be undone for 5 seconds, after which it is permanently removed.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on request. For data held by Google as an ad and analytics provider, use the Google controls linked above.
Security
Data is stored in the app’s private area, which other apps cannot read on a normal device. All network requests use HTTPS. Note that Lumo does not encrypt data with a password or lock the app behind a PIN — anyone who can unlock your phone can open it.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts collecting or sending something new, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
